Teaching assistants are sought for Electricity and Magnetism 2023-2024
We are looking for teaching assistants for the course “Electricity and Magnetism” (WPPH16001), to be taught for the first year students in Period II of the 2023-24 season. The course will be given by Prof. Maxim Pchenitchnikov (Period IIa, the course coordinator) and Prof. Steven Hoekstra and Anastasya Borschevsky (Period IIb). The teaching assistants are supposed to lead tutorials on problem solving two times a week, attend weekly TA meetings and assist the lecturers in setting up, supervising and grading the assignments (6 assignments in total, and two re-exams in the second half of July 2024). For the bachelor/master students, a financial compensation will be provided (0.2 FTE for period IIa and 0.2 FTE for period IIb).
The requirements for the successful candidates are the following:
- Excellent knowledge of Electricity and Magnetism (the textbook: Introduction to Electrodynamics by Griffiths, 4 th edition) as evident from the grade of 7.5 or higher earned for this or a similar course
- Ability to solve (after preparations) and explain to the students Problems from Griffiths (Chapters 1-12)
- Pedagogical skills as to be enthusiastic and dedicated teacher in international environment
- Fluent English
- Availability for 90% of the tutorials and exams as the least (except exceptional circumstances)
